How Dental Bridges Work

A dental bridge is a device that is used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge is made up of two or more dental crowns that are attached to the adjacent teeth and a false tooth (or teeth) in between. The dental bridge is custom-made to match the color and shape of your natural teeth, providing a seamless appearance. Dental bridges are an effective solution for restoring your smile and improving your dental function.

Getting a Crown or Bridge

The process of getting a dental crown or bridge typically involves two separate appointments. The entire process typically takes two to three weeks, depending on the individual case.

During the first appointment, the dentist will prepare the affected tooth or teeth by removing any decay or damage and shaping the tooth to accommodate the crown or bridge.
Next, they will take impressions of the prepared teeth and send them to a dental lab to create the customized crown or bridge. In the meantime, a temporary crown or bridge will be placed to protect the prepared tooth or teeth.
During the second appointment, the temporary crown or bridge will be removed, and the permanent crown or bridge will be fitted and adjusted for proper fit and function. The dentist will then permanently cement the crown or bridge in place, completing the restoration process.
